SAP Engineering Control Center interface to ECAD
Optimized product development in electronic design
SAP Engineering Control Center interface to ECAD effectively supports development in electronic design and enables the integration of leading ECAD tools into SAP. Engineers can manage and classify electronic design data directly from their familiar authoring environment in SAP and link them for example with MCAD documents or SAP objects (library parts with material and so on). Apart from that, engineering change management functions, status log and status networks offer safe versioning and transparent monitoring. Many processes run automatically: from creating bills of material and where-used lists to generating production records such as Gerber data and assembly diagrams.
The R&D cockpit enhances the comfort for engineers further. The cockpit visualizes dependencies, helps organizing documents as needed and allows for easy access to and reuse of data. In this way, existing circuit layouts can be reused for developing new PCB boards.
All data and all processes in just one cockpit
The R&D cockpit facilitates an interdisciplinary data exchange, for example for ECAD-MCAD collision checks. It also provides an up-to-date overview on mechatronics projects, project structures and development standards, as SAP PLM synchronizes the electronic data with MCAD, electrical and firmware / software data and harmonizes workflow, change and release management. As a result, all persons involved are always kept updated; this in turn accelerates coordination and validation processes.
The integrated viewer further supports the full access to all data, as 2D/3D data can be viewed regardless of the source system. And finally, SAP PLM can create consolidated bills of material and releases across all engineering disciplines.
