In-depth integration
of leading authoring tools in SAP PLM
Today manufacturers look to create digital twins for their products to follow the entire lifecycle from design, production, delivery, use and service, to end of life. The “Digital Twin” enables manufacturers of devices, machines, and plants to offer new services and thus fully exploit the opportunities of digitalization. But where does the digital twin begin? Is there a point manufacturing companies can start with?
A digital twin results from the digital mapping of all data of a product. However, this information must be managed in a homogeneous and consistent system – from the initial requirements sketch to ECAD and MCAD drawings to the manufacturing data. The prerequisite for this is a digital product lifecycle based on modern software solutions. The strategic integration platform SAP Engineering Control Center | SAP ECTR as an important building block of SAP Product Lifecycle Management | PLM creates the best possible conditions for this.
Our software solution SAP Engineering Control Center | SAP ECTR is the standard integration platform for authoring tools of all types: from MCAD and ECAD tools to MS Office. With this solution, we integrate not only individual software solutions but also complete company divisions seamlessly in the SAP-supported PLM process. For all current MCAD and ECAD tools, direct interfaces are available such as SAP Engineering Control Center interface to NX or SAP Engineering Control Center interface to ECAD. Thus locally generated product data and documents are available company-wide and can be structurally managed, classified, versioned, and linked with SAP objects. An R&D cockpit with 2D/3D viewing supplies all the necessary information.
Thanks to the digital twin, project teams get a constant overview of their product and the latest state of development. Thus they are always up to date concerning continuous improvements and adaptations to new environments and tasks. This speeds up coordination and significantly raises efficiency in all phases of the product lifecycle.
