Secure Data Exchange Made Easy

New OpenDXM GlobalX SAP ECTR integration by DSC and PROSTEP provides users with the maximum comfort

DSC Software AG and PROSTEP AG now pursue a common objective: rendering data exchange as easy, secure, and flexible as possible for development partners, joint ventures, and suppliers. The new OpenDXM GlobalX SAP ECTR integration provides users with a direct exchange possibility for native CAD data, drawings, and other documents – directly from the SAP ECTR user interface via the Managed File Transfer solution OpenDXM GlobalX by PROSTEP.

SAP Engineering Control Center | SAP ECTR developed by DSC is the standard integration platform for authoring tools in SAP and provides a central engineering cockpit for product lifecycle management in SAP. The underlying idea: having only one system for the management and controlling of all relevant data, documents and processes across the complete product lifecycle. Thus, a central storage for consistent cross-company product data – from product design over logistics and manufacturing to service. SAP ECTR is therefore an ideal collaboration platform that has now become even more interesting for development partners, joint ventures, and suppliers thanks to the new OpenDXM GlobalX SAP ECTR integration.

OpenDXM GlobalX SAP ECTR Integration

The web-based data exchange platform OpenDXM GlobalX by the PLM consulting and software company PROSTEP provides an easy-to-use interface for users from all departments and ensures maximum security for Managed File Transfer (MFT) with a multi-level encryption. Until now, besides a web browser interface and a Microsoft Outlook and Windows Explorer integration, only integrations for the PLM systems 3D EXPERIENCE, Teamcenter, Windchill, and SAP CAD desktop existed. Now, the SAP ECTR integration is also available.

In order to initiate a new data exchange, users can create a folder directly within the Desktop window of SAP ECTR and store the desired documents in this folder – fast and easy via drag&drop, by using the search functionality or by directly selecting, for example, assembly elements from the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer. After defining the transfer size, the data is transferred to the OpenDXM GlobalX PDMwizard for completing the transfer job. The user can now select which contents of the folder are to be shared and the persons with whom they are to be shared within the OpenDXM GlobalX PDMwizard. The respective persons are notified about the provision of data via e-mail or receive them automatically via Odette File Transfer Protocol (OFTP) in an Engineering Data Message (ENGDAT). This way, even large amounts of data of multi-digit gigabytes can be exchanged comfortably and securely encrypted between companies.
