DSC Engagement with Partners in China is Progressing

New possibilities thanks to the participation in the SAP PLM Infoday in Shanghai and fruitful discussions with customers and interested parties

The recent go-live of Shanghai Electric with SAP Engineering Control Center | SAP ECTR, the strategic integration platform for SAP PLM, clearly shows: The long-term engagement of DSC and partners in Asia, especially in China, has come to fruition: more and more satisfied customers are using SAP PLM with SAP ECTR – one more reason for DSC to participate again in the SAP PLM Infoday on November 7, 2019 in Shanghai. The DSC team did not only hold an interesting presentation about SAP ECTR in the context of mechatronic processes and collaborations, but also provided an exhibition booth where the experts presented DSC’s solutions live within the system for interested participants. The event was held by the SAP Digital Supply Chain Team (SAP DSC) by SAP China. Jacky LI, Director Business Development by SAP DSC China, welcomed about 70 participants and led through the event program.

Presentations Demonstrate the SAP PLM Portfolio and its Full Potential

The presentations showed the great variety and performance of the SAP PLM solution portfolio. In addition to SAP ECTR as the strategic integration platform for authoring tools, the solutions Product Lifecycle Costing (PLC), Intelligent Product Design (IPD), as well as the topic Design to Order were presented.

Mechatronic Product Design Highlights the Strengths of SAP ECTR

DSC’s presentation covered a core topic for many companies with make to order production: Product design is becoming increasingly complex, and many companies integrate more and more electronic and software components to mechanical products – this is called mechatronic product development. Although mechatronics is becoming increasingly important for product development, in many cases the MCAD and ECAD design teams still work within different systems. The result: non-transparent design steps and thus possible conflicts between MCAD and ECAD design departments. SAP ECTR provides the ideal solution for this problem: It integrates MCAD, and ECAD systems into SAP PLM and provides direct access to SAP ERP. Hence, MCAD and ECAD data are provided company-wide and can be managed more easily and efficiently.

DSC Sales Team Asia Visits Existing Customers, and New Customers for SAP ECTR

The DSC team traditionally used the trip to China not only to visit existing customers, but also to launch SAP ECTR projects for new customers together with the local partners. Furthermore, some interested parties took the opportunity to meet the DSC sales team in person. DSC and partners are looking forward to an exciting future in China.
